Key Components of Whole Home Generator Maintenance

Annual Generac generator maintenance is a critical aspect of ensuring the reliability and performance of backup power systems, and Affinity Contracting is here to help. During such maintenance, various components and systems of the generator are tested and inspected to identify any issues and address them promptly.

Currently, our fee for air-cooled generators ranging from 8Kw to 26Kw is $350, which includes parts and labor.

For liquid-cooled generators from 27Kw to 150Kw, the annual maintenance fee is $500, also inclusive of parts and labor.

Here are some of the key components and aspects that get tested during annual generator maintenance

Visual Inspection: The generator is visually inspected for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. This includes checking the generator's exterior, control panels, cables, and connectors. Fluid Levels: Oil, coolant, and fuel levels are checked, and any necessary top-ups or replacements are performed. Proper fluid levels are crucial for the generator's operation.

Fuel System: The fuel system is inspected for leaks, clogs, and proper fuel flow. Fuel filters may be replaced, and the fuel lines checked for integrity.

Oil Change: An oil change is to be done annually or every 200 hours if the generator has been run in an emergency situation.

Battery and Charging System: The battery and charging system are tested to ensure they are functioning correctly. Weak or damaged batteries may be replaced.

Cooling System: The cooling system, including the radiator, hoses, and thermostat, is checked for leaks, blockages, and proper cooling.

The coolant is also tested for quality and protection against overheating.

Exhaust System: The exhaust system is inspected for leaks and damage. Exhaust pipes and mufflers are checked for signs of corrosion. Air Intake System: The air intake system is inspected for blockages and proper airflow. Air filters are replaced if needed to maintain engine efficiency.

Electrical System: The electrical components, including wiring, connectors, and control panels, are checked for loose connections, corrosion, and signs of wear. Voltage, frequency, and voltage balance are tested.

Load Bank Testing: Load bank testing involves running the generator under a simulated load to ensure it can handle the expected electrical demand when needed. This test helps verify the generator's capacity and performance.

Control System: The control system, including the generator's automatic transfer switch (ATS), is tested to ensure it can seamlessly transfer power from the main grid to the generator during an outage.

Governor and Voltage Regulator: These components are inspected and calibrated to maintain proper engine speed and voltage output. Safety Systems: Safety features, such as emergency shutdown systems and alarms, are tested to ensure they function correctly.

Record Keeping: Detailed records of the maintenance procedures and any identified issues are maintained for future reference and compliance with regulatory requirements. Trust Affinity Contracting for all your generator maintenance needs!
